Cipla appoints Umang Vohra & Prabir Jha to its management team

Cipla Ltd, a global pharmaceutical company which uses cutting edge technology and innovation to meet the everyday needs of all patients, has appointed Umang Vohra as global chief financial and strategy officer and Prabir Jha as global chief people officer effective 1st October 2015.

Until recently Umang was the head of the North America business for Dr Reddy's. He was instrumental in growing this business by over 60 per cent to cross US$ 1 billion sales, almost half the revenues of Dr Reddy's, through several business development partnerships, acquisitions as well as growing the oncology health system business. Prior to this, Umang was the global CFO of Dr Reddy’s for four years and was widely credited with the significant improvement in the company's ROCE (return on capital employed). Prior to Dr Reddy's, he worked with PepsiCo and Eicher Motors. In addition to the finance role, Umang will be responsible for strategy, portfolio, business development, mergers and acquisitions and business technology.

Commenting on his appointment, Subhanu Saxena, MD and Global CEO, Cipla Ltd said "We are delighted that Umang Vohra is joining the leadership team at Cipla. He brings deep insights about the global generics industry as well as an understanding of value creation through his background in leading business and finance roles."

Prabir Jha will join Cipla as the global chief people officer. In addition to providing leadership to the human resources function globally for the company, he will lead the corporate communications and administration functions as well. Prabir is an alumnus of St. Stephen's College and XLRI Jamshedpur. After a decade long tenure as a civil servant, he has pursued a corporate career in Human Resources. As the chief HR officer at some of the country's leading corporations like Dr Reddy's, Tata Motors and most recently, Reliance Industries, Prabir has built a solid reputation as an organisation transformation strategist and a very progressive HR practitioner.
